SKY ISLAND RESORT is built on top of a 70m high coastal ridge in Southern Mozambique. With two launch sites facing our two predominant winds, one facing North-East and the other facing East, the site is suitable for pilots of all skill levels and is the ideal site for beginners. Our prime flying season is from January to May; with March being optimum where you can expect flying 8 out of 10 days. Our restaurant overlooks the East take-off site and has breathtaking views of the ocean! We offer tandem flights in season and we are open to solo pilots who are qualified. *Meadow Chalets* Our Meadow Chalets are self-catering units, each with its own kitchenette which has all the necessary kitchen equipment you would require - including a stove, fridge, and microwave. Each chalet has an en-suite bathroom and comes fitted with a Queen size bed as well as a sleeper couch that converts into a comfortable single bed. They are all equipped with a TV, an overhead fan, private patio, outside shower, braai facilities and free Wi-Fi, room service & breakfast. Our Meadow Chalets are surrounded by unspoiled nature and a view of the vast open grassy fields. Using only materials from the land, the chalets have been built to breathe during summer and insulate for the winter. Sky View Tent Our Luxury Sky View Tents are nestled in amongst an ancient and unspoiled tropical dune forest on the Ponta Malongane Ridge. Positioned on the edge of the mountain, you can enjoy the amazing views of the Ponta Malongane beach and get lost in the glorious vastness of the Indian Ocean! Our Luxury Sky View Tents come fully equipped with a King size bed (or 2 singles) with luxuriously soft white linen, a tea/coffee station, electricity, power points, braai facilities, ample storage space and includes free Wi-Fi, room service & breakfast. Each campsite has its very own private toilet and shower, an outside hot water wash area, and privacy from neighbors. If you don’t like camping but you love the great outdoors, then our glamping solution will be perfect for you! *FUNCTION* Weddings With our spectacular view of the ocean, it is the perfect backdrop for when the bride and groom say their "I do's". Local Village We are situated in Ponta Malongane which is a lovely small village where you can shop for local arts & crafts, indulge in local cuisine, and experience African culture first-hand. Scuba Diving Book a scuba dive and explore some of the world’s most magnificent scuba diving reefs! Ocean Safaris Experience a memorable interaction swim with wild dolphins by going on an Ocean Safari. All dolphin interaction is respectful and conscious on the dolphin's terms and nature's conditions :) Snorkeling SKY ISLAND RESORT is located right above the Ponta Malongane bay. There is a scenic footpath that leads down to the main beach where you can enjoy snorkeling in our natural rock pools during low tide. Beach Not only do we have a great swimming beach, but it stretches as far as the eye can see in both directions. At low tide, it is protected by the reef and forms a calm bay with easy and safe swimming conditions for all ages and at high tide, it is good fun playing in the waves :) The beach is also suitable for surfing, kite-surfing, fishing, and snorkeling. Or if you just want to relax and enjoy the view, you can hire a gazebo or an umbrella for the day. You can even indulge in a full body massage from one of the local ladies! Sports For the guests who like to be more active... we have archery, badminton, and volleyball. Fun for the whole family! No costs involved. Nature From August to November is WHALE SEASON! Humpback Whales migrate past Ponta Malongane and you can watch them play whilst enjoying a meal at our restaurant. SKY ISLAND RESORT is set in an indigenous dune forest and grassland. For nature enthusiasts, you will love our walking trails where you will see our diverse species of plants, animals, and beautiful bird-life. Quad Bike Safaris Join us on one of our 4 different guided quad bike tours and either explore the local area; go on a 'classy' booze cruise; take a trip through the banana plantations or enjoy a sundowner (with an exquisite view!) on our wetland tour. .... Or just rent a quad for the day and explore the area at your own leisure.
